1 - Can a scratched non-stick pan be recoated?

No, the non-stick coating must be applied during the initial manufacturing process.






2 - Can stains that appear on the non-stick surface after overheating be removed?

These should be removed with a nylon sponge.
For stubborn stains, simmer 1 tablespoon of bleach in a quarter-quart of water for 15 to 20 minutes. Clean, rinse and dry the pan, then season with a little oil.






3 - How do you clean a T-fal non-stick pan?

Cleaning by hand in soapy water is enough.
The pan must be cleaned each time it's used to remove the film of grease that can stay on the surface. If the pan is only wiped with a paper towel or rinsed in water, the film won't be fully removed and may cook the next time you use the pan: stains may appear.
Non-stick pans must not be cleaned with scouring powders or scouring pads. A nylon sponge is ideal for both the interior and exterior of the pan.




4 - With T-fal utensils, is it possible to cook without oil or fat?

Yes. Cooking without oil or fat is fine, in fact it is an advantage for people on a special diet.
However, many dishes look and taste better when cooked with a little oil, – the choice is yours.




5 - Is T-fal non-stick cookware oven proof?

Yes, up to 350 degrees F. only for a maximum of one hour. The pan can only be heated at high temperatures on a hob. When placed in the oven the oven heat should be at a maximum of 350 degrees F° even for a pan with Thermo-Spot as it is the bakelite handles that cannot withstand higher temperatures. 

T-fal cookware with plastic handles or knobs are not oven proof.

T-fal cookware should never be used in a microwave or convection oven.






6 - What can I do if my food starts to stick?

As long as the surface of the cookware has been properly seasoned and cared for food should not stick.

What do you mean by "Seasoning" the cookware?


"Seasoning" means to coat the cookware with a little oil. Before the first use:
- wash the cookware thoroughly and dry. Heat each pan on low for 30 seconds,
- remove from heat and put one tablespoon of vegetable oil in each pan,
- rub the oil over the entire surface with a paper towel.

This process should be repeated if you use a dishwasher.






8 - What is T-fal non-stick made of and how safe is it?

All non-stick coating contains PTFE which is the abbreviated name for a remarkable polymer called polytetrafluoroethylene.

The non-stick coating is not attacked by acid or alkali bases and is very stable when heated to temperatures of up to 750 deg F.
Since in a domestic kitchen the maximum temperature possible with a pan is about 570 degrees F, there is no risk should a pan be accidentally overheated.

Health authorities in France, Europe, United States and other countries have approved non-stick PTFE coatings for use on cookware because it is an inert substance which does not enter into chemical reactions with food, water or household cleaners.
If ingested it is totally innocuous in the body.
In fact, non-stick PTFE is so safe it is used by the medical profession for coating heart stimulators, coating small pipes used as replacement arteries and has even been injected into patients with serious kidney conditions.






9 - Why can a pan turn gondola-shaped?

A pan warps under thermal shock (an overheated empty pan, a hot pan in contact with cold water or placed on a cold surface, etc.).
Before cleaning the pan, let it cool to room temperature.
A warped pan will give poor cooking results.
